Jamie Lee Curtis (born November 22, 1958, in Santa Monica, California) is an American actress and writer, known as one of the icons of the horror genre. She is the daughter of acting couple Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis. She rose to fame in 1978 with her role as Laurie Strode in John Carpenter's Halloween. The role earned her the nickname "scream queen" and made her a regular in the franchise, including the latest film, Halloween Ends (2022).
Curtis's notable works include the films Trading Places (1983), Pitch Perfect (1985), True Lies (1994), for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe, My Girl (1991), A Fish Called Wanda (1988), All About My Mother (2002), and her voice work in the animated film Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009). In 2022, she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Everything Everywhere.
