Biography of Salma Khayek
Salma Hayek, born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jiménez (September 2, 1966, Coatzacoalcos, Mexico), is a Mexican-American actress, director, and producer. The daughter of a businessman and an opera singer, she attended a Catholic school in Louisiana and studied international relations in Mexico City. She made her debut in the telenovela Teresa (1989), becoming a star in Mexico. In 1991, she moved to Hollywood, where her breakthrough role was in Desperado (1995). She received an Oscar nomination for her role as Frida Kahlo in Frida (2002), which she also produced. She starred in From Dusk Till Dawn (1996), Bandidas (2006), and The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (2021).
