Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, born on 7 November 1989 in Norilsk, is an activist, feminist and member of the punk band Pussy Riot. After graduating from school, she enrolled at Moscow State University, where she met like-minded people and formed an art group, which later became a music band. Pussy Riot's provocative actions, including a performance in Christ the Saviour Cathedral, brought her worldwide fame, but also led to her arrest and imprisonment.
