Lindsey Vonn (full name Lindsey Caroline Vonn, born October 18, 1984, in St. Paul, Minnesota) is an American alpine skier and one of the greatest female skiers in history. Standing 178 cm tall, she dominated the speed disciplines (downhill and super-G).
Grew up in Minnesota, started skiing at age 2, moved to Vail, Colorado, at age 7 to train. She made her World Cup debut at age 16 (2000) and won her first race in 2004. Key achievements: 4 overall World Cup titles (2008–2010, 2012), 20 downhill wins (a record among women), 82 World Cup stage victories (second in history after Marcel Hirscher), 4 small World Cups in downhill and super-G, Olympic gold in downhill (Vancouver 2010) and bronze in super-G (Pyeongchang 2018). Three-time world champion (downhill 2009, 2011, 2013).
In 2019, she ended her career due to numerous injuries (more than 10 fractures, knee surgeries). After retiring from sports, she became a TV presenter (NBC Olympics), producer, founded the Lindsey Vonn Foundation (supporting children and animals), wrote her autobiography Rise (2022), launched a clothing brand, and invests in women's sports.
