Biography of Sara Khektor (Sara Hector)
Sara Hector (born September 4, 1992, Sandviken, Sweden) is a Swedish alpine skier, one of the world's strongest in giant slalom, Olympic champion in 2022, and silver medalist at the 2026 Olympics.
She grew up in the small town of Sandviken and started skiing at the age of 7 at the local club Kungsbergets AK. Her breakthrough came at junior level, with victories at the European and World Junior Championships. She made her senior debut in the World Cup in 2009 and won her first victory in 2014 (Kutai, giant slalom). Key achievements: gold at the 2022 Olympics in giant slalom (Sweden's first Olympic gold in women's GS in 30 years), silver at the 2026 Olympics in giant slalom (shared with Norway's Thea Louise Stjernesund), three gold medals at the World Championships in team competitions (2011, 2015, 2021), several World Cup stage victories, and consistent podium finishes in the giant slalom discipline.
In the 2025/26 season, she performed at a high level: winning the giant slalom in Kranjska Gora and achieving other top results, despite her age (33) and competition from younger athletes. She is known for her technique, consistency, and calm character—the “quiet force” of Swedish alpine skiing.
She is active on Instagram (@sarahector, 48,000 followers), where she shares her training sessions, races, and personal moments. She is unmarried, has no children, and keeps her personal life private. Sarah Hector is a symbol of perseverance and skill: from a junior athlete from a small town to an Olympic champion and one of the best in her discipline, she inspires generations with her consistency and love for the sport.
