Biography of Svetlana Loboda
Svetlana Loboda (Svetlana Sergeyevna Loboda, born 18 October 1982, Kyiv) is one of the most prominent and successful Ukrainian singers, actresses and producers, with a career spanning more than 20 years. She began her career in 2004 by winning the ‘Miss Slavyanka’ contest, after which she became the lead singer of the group ‘VIA Gra’ (2004–2005). After leaving the group, Svetlana launched her solo career: hits such as ‘You Won’t Forget’, ‘I Don’t Need You’, ‘SuperSTAR’, ‘40 Degrees’, ‘It’s Time’, ‘Here and Now’, ‘Your Eyes’, ‘My Brother’, ‘Pulse’ and others made her one of the leading pop performers in the post-Soviet space. Loboda represented Ukraine at ‘Eurovision 2009’ (with the song ‘Be My Valentine! (Anti-Crisis Girl)’, finishing second in the semi-final), appeared in films (‘New Year’s Tariff’, ‘Rzhevsky vs Napoleon’), hosted television programmes and released several albums. Her appearance is the epitome of beauty: she is 172 cm tall, has a model’s figure, striking facial features and her signature gaze.
