Sylvia Kristel was a legendary Dutch actress and model, born on 28 September 1952 in Utrecht, the Netherlands. She made her mark on cinema history as one of the most iconic sex symbols of the 1970s thanks to her leading role in the erotic melodrama *Emmanuelle* (1974). The film was a huge international success and turned Sylvia into a global star. She played the role of Emmanuelle in three instalments of the franchise, after which she appeared in films such as *Goodbye, Emmanuelle*, *Alice*, *Matilda*, *The Girl from Petrovka* and *Doctor Zhivago* (a mini-series). Sylvia Kristel possessed a perfect figure, a sensual appearance and natural sex appeal, which made her a true icon of erotic cinema. In addition to her acting career, she enjoyed success as a model and appeared in the leading magazines of the time.
