Biography of Tina Kandelaki
Tinatin Georgievna Kandelaki (Tina Kandelaki) was born on 10 November 1975 in Tbilisi. Her father, Givi Shalvovich Kandelaki (1942–2009), was an economist from an old Georgian family of Greek descent; he managed a vegetable warehouse in Tbilisi for many years and, upon retirement, moved to Moscow with his wife. Her mother is Elvira Georgievna Kandelaki (née Alaverdyan), an Armenian by nationality and a doctor specialising in addiction medicine. Tina attended Secondary School No. 64 for children of military personnel in the centre of Tbilisi. After leaving school, she graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at Tbilisi State University, but began her professional career in Russia. From 2002, she became known as the presenter of the programme ‘Nedelya’ on REN-TV; she subsequently worked at NTV (‘Nedelya s Tinoy Kandelaki’), ‘Match TV’ (as executive producer), ‘Channel One’ and others. In 2010, she launched her own radio station, ‘Serebryany Dozhd’, and in 2022 she took the helm at ‘Gazprom-Media Holding’. Tina is a colourful media personality: sharp-tongued, outspoken and known for her controversial remarks. She is married for the second time to Alexander Mamut (since 2019) and is raising three children (two from her first marriage to Andrei Nazarov, and one with Mamut). She actively runs a Telegram channel, where she comments on politics, sport and her personal life. She is 167 cm tall and of Georgian-Armenian descent. Tina Kandelaki is the embodiment of ambition, charisma and the ability to remain in the spotlight for decades.
