Biography of Emi Shumer
Amy Beth Schumer (born June 1, 1981, New York) is an American stand-up comedian, actress, screenwriter, producer, and one of the most recognizable figures in contemporary comedy.
Her breakthrough came in 2007 when she placed fourth on Last Comic Standing. After that, Amy began performing regularly in clubs and recorded several stand-up specials for Comedy Central and HBO (including Mostly Sex Stuff in 2012 and Live at the Apollo in 2015). Her humor—frank, self-deprecating, and often focused on sex, relationships, body image, and the female experience—instantly resonated with audiences.
In 2015, her first feature film, Trainwreck, was released, with Amy serving as screenwriter and lead actress. The film grossed $140 million and received high praise from critics. This was followed by Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, the series Inside Amy Schumer (2013–2016, 2022), the film I Feel Your Pain (2017), Life and Death (2020), and numerous guest roles.
Since 2018, Amy has been a mother: married to Chris Fish (since 2018), she gave birth to her son Gene (2019). In 2020, the couple adopted a daughter, and in 2025, they adopted a second child. Amy speaks openly about the difficulties of pregnancy, motherhood, and her battle with endometriosis.
