Biography of Anastasiya Volochkova
Nastasia Volochkova is a Russian ballerina, dancer and public figure, born on 20 January 1976 in St Petersburg. She holds the title of Honoured Artist of Russia, as well as that of People’s Artist in a number of the country’s regions. She developed a passion for ballet from an early age after attending a performance of *The Nutcracker* at the Mariinsky Theatre. She trained at the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet, where her mentor was Natalya Dudinskaya.She began her stage career at the Mariinsky Theatre, performing leading roles in the classical repertoire, including *Swan Lake* and *Giselle*. She later became a prima ballerina at the Bolshoi Theatre, where she worked until 2003. Following a high-profile dispute and legal proceedings, she left the theatre and focused on solo projects.Volochkova tours extensively, appears on television programmes and takes part in charitable initiatives, whilst also raising her daughter, Ariadne.
